Our Mission:

Inspiring young learners to innovate and create through exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEAM).

Our Vision:

To be southeastern Indiana’s destination for playful learning—where young people are empowered to explore their creativity, discover their passions, and grow into the innovators, problem solvers, and leaders of tomorrow.

Our Values:

Child Centered: We honor the wonder of youth and believe that child-led play is essential, meaningful work. We provide space for children to explore, imagine, and learn, where learning is interactive, meaningful, and reflective of real life.

Sustainability: We aspire to operate in a thoughtful and ethical manner, being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.

Community: We are a welcoming space where everyone belongs. We believe in the power of partnerships and collaboration—working together to support all children and families in our region and beyond.

Excellence: We are a forward-thinking organization that values creativity, lifelong learning, and the power of “mess making.” We embrace a failure-positive mindset and continuously strive to grow and improve.

“A majority of the practicing scientists interviewed in a 1992 study, reported that the museum and library were the two greatest influences on their childhood learning: It was a process of generating questions about objects and exhibits at the museum and then going to the library to try to find more detailed answers for them.” page 87.
